Stylish hotel with potential — but some disappointing issues
- What did you like most?Novotel has a modern and stylish design, with great amenities and very friendly staff. The barman and doormen were especially welcoming and helpful, making the stay feel warm and personal. The location is also excellent, with a great convenience store next door and some of the best restaurants just steps away. We returned to one three times as the ceviche was excellent. The Novotel pool is small but lovely and the gym is great. The view is good from the gym.
- Was there anything you didn't like?There were a few significant drawbacks that impacted my stay. The key card system was very frustrating — it was difficult to open the door each time and this made me feel slightly unsafe. I took at least 5 times to open to door. My door was missing a piece where the lock should click in properly upon inspection. Additionally, the sauna was locked two days in a row, which was disappointing, especially as it was one of the amenities I had been looking forward to using. The biggest issue came at checkout: my Mastercard and my WISE debit/credit card — both of which I regularly use, including for my Booking.com reservation — were not accepted without paying extra so I was unexpectedly charged an additional $80 USD in taxes, even though I am not Chilean and have not been charged this tax at nearby hotels. I am currently disputing this charge with Novotel, as it was neither communicated clearly nor consistent with standard practice.
